RWANDA basketball federation (Ferwaba) has decided terminated their contract with head coach Nenad Amanovic after he failed to guide the country to better places in this year’s Fiba Africa junior basketball championship.
The federation’s club secretary Richard Mutabazi said on Thursday that Amanovic never performed to satisfactory as agreed before he took office this year.
“Before terminating his contract, we sat with him and brought to his attention that he had failed to accomplish his task in as regards with even the U-18 team which finished last in the Africa championship,”
“This turn we are going to give a chance to local coaches such that we can access were they can take the country? We have relied on foreign coaches and we believe local coaches can do even better than these foreign coaches,”
“Our local coaches need our trust, patience and time to deliver. We will even give them courses to help in developing their skills,” added Mutabazi.
The local basketball federation will soon name Amanovic’s replacement.
