Rwanda men’s team thumped by Egypt in Dar es salaam
Rwandan men’s basketball team suffered a major blow in their quest to defend their title when they lost terribly to their Egyptian counterparts 57-96 in the first game of the ongoing Zone 5 African Cup of Nations qualifiers in Dar es salaam Tanzania on Monday.
After the first two quarters, Rwanda had conceded 14-45 but it was solely due to poor defending. And Egypt went on to wine easily.
In other matches, Kenyan teams launched a bright start winning their opening matches in both the men and women categories respectively.
The women’s team defeated hosts Tanzania 74-32 while the men’s team had a good time out with a 71-63 win over Burundi.
Tuesday was meant to see Rwanda men’s team facing Uganda while their women counterparts face hosts Tanzania.
Rwanda’s men team will face Tanzania on Wednesday while their women counterparts will take on Kenya.
The winners will take part in the African Nations Cup will be held in DRC in August 2013.
