Somalia shocked Burundi and Kenya

 The Somalia National basketball team continued with their dominance in the pool B of the ongoing Zone 5 African Cup of Nations qualifiers after they beat Burundi 98-80 on Wednesday in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania to finish on top of the group after two wins from two matches.

 

Somalia upset Kenya on Tuesday with an 81-79 win. Somalia has 4 points from the two wins while Kenya has 3 points after they beat Burundi 71-63. Burundi remain rooted at the bottom with 2 points after losing all its matches in the group stage.

 

In the match against Burundi, Somalia 31-16 romping in the 1st quarter and though Burundi saved face in the 2nd quarter with a 24 -19 win the Somalian’s were not done yet as they recovered to win the 3rd quarter 32-20.

 

In the last quarter Burundi attempted another comeback with a 20-16 points but it was little too late.

 

Fisal Jama who had an impressive match against Kenya sinking 20 points was on top form once more against Burundi gaining an impressive 32 points followed by Ahmed Ahmed who had 28 points. Hakizamana Jean was Burundi’s top scorer with 16 points followed by Nikobahoze Blaise with 14 points.

 

The group B pool had Kenya, Somalia and Burundi while pool A had the hosts Tanzania, Uganda, Egypt and Rwanda.
