AMERICAN-BORN coach Ryan Turcott has hinted on improving the level of basketball as he continues to hold training camps across Rwanda.
Turcott has been holding camps aimed at talent detection at Cercle Sportif de Kigali and he has been holding drills with 90 boys and girls aged between 12-17 years.
He is also working with the local basketball federation such that they can pick the next U-18 team from these players.
He also wants to build partnership Rwandan Universities who are studying sport and physical education. The central focus is to help develop the coaches, who are essential pieces in providing players with the proper tools to be successful.
“This program is not about me. It is about the people, coaches, and children of Rwanda. Sport has provided me with so much in my life and I want to use it to help others as well.”
“Basketball is growing up in Rwanda so fast, that it is good for the country so we should continue to work hard for the young players,” added Turcott who is planning return back to USA later this month.
