Reigning champions Espoir were double victors as they beat Rusizi and NUR in this year’s national basketball league despite losing three of the four matches played so far.

They beat Rusizi 71-65 and handed another loss to NUR over the weekend.

Espoir’s Oliver Shyaka scored the game high of 26 points with his teammates Christian Barutwanayo and Captain Artside Mugabe adding 14 points. NUR’s Eric Shema led his club’s scoring sheet with 11 points.

In other games, former champions APR won 88-41 against College of Education (formerly KIE) on Saturday, while two-time reigning champions Espoir snatched a narrow victory of 71-65 over hosts Rusuzi yesterday.

In women’s league on Sunday, 7-time league winners APR beat closest archrivals Ubumwe basketball club 65-59, while RAPP easily won 61-31 against Huye-based College of Arts and Social sciences.
