Basketball - Dumars set to resign from Pistons role

Joe Dumars is expected to resign as general manager of the Detroit Pistons.

 Dumars, who played for the franchise in a backcourt with Isiah Thomas, became president of basketball operations in 2000 and has been part of the Pistons for 29 years.- -

Defensive specialist Ronnie Brewer will rejoin the Chicago Bulls for the rest of the season.

Brewer played for the Bulls in 2011-12 and was released by the Houston Rockets in February. Chicago’s roster has been one player short even after picking up Jimmer Fredette.- -

The Minnesota Timberwolves have signed guard Othyus Jeffers for the remainder of the 2013-14 regular season.

The 6-foot-5 Jeffers appeared in six preseason games with the Wolves this season, averaging 4.3 points and 3.5 rebounds in 14.3 minutes per game. He spent most of this season playing with the Iowa Energy in the NBA Development League.
